My mobile phone is a OnePlus 6T, and I don’t know how many years I have used it, probably since it first came on the market. I’m not very demanding on the hardware, and aside from the camera being a bit slag, it still serves my needs well, not even the same as when I bought it on day one.

The first thing I did when I got my phone was to change the system and root, which is why I bought a OnePlus. At first, I changed it from hydrogen to oxygen, and then I changed it to LineageOS 18. It has been used until now, and it should have been a few years. .

After using the mobile phone for a long time, it is inevitable to feel ordinary and boring. Since I don’t want to change the phone, I have to find a little freshness. So, I threw away the phone case, tore off the phone film, and felt completely new. I accidentally saw that LineageOS already has version 19, and my heart began to itch to upgrade. After hesitating between stability and freshness, let’s pursue freshness.

Brushing LineageOS is a long time ago, and the operation has been forgotten for a long time. I went to the official website to read the tutorial, it is very clear and simple, just follow it. However, the steps I tried to upgrade across versions were unsuccessful, so I simply reinstalled. I didn’t flash Play Services this time, because I thought I could get rid of Google; I didn’t plan to root, but it was a hassle.

The Google app currently used has only one Play Books, which can be replaced by ReadEra, and the web version of Voice and YouTube can be used. However, what I didn’t expect was that the indispensable Strava was actually dependent on Google services, and had no choice but to succumb.

An alternative to Google services is MicroG, which requires the phone to support signature spoofing, which LineageOS does not. The documentation offers a lot of solutions, my final choice was Magisk + LPosed + FakeGApps. For my current situation, this is the lowest cost, anyway, the phone will be rooted sooner or later, and I can’t refuse the convenience of rooting.

It’s been a long time since I installed Magisk last time. This time, I read the guide written by the author, which is different from the method I used before, but it is simpler. After rooting, I used the Riru version of LPosed at first. Although it solved the problem of Google services, when I went to work on Monday, I forgot to hide the root of the company’s app, so I couldn’t hit the card. In a hurry, I had to uninstall Magisk first, and then Using the Zygisk version of LPosed gets the best of both worlds.

LineageOS 19 is the Android 12 version, which is quite different from Android 11 in terms of UI, and there is not much feeling in other aspects. Compared with the freshness brought by the new version of the system, the upgrade process is more fun. It is precisely because I can play the machine freely, so I will never use a closed system.
