For those who have lived in the countryside since childhood and have a little knowledge of the history of the republic outside of middle school history textbooks, the author’s depiction of the times in his personal life is not new, but it is different for foreign readers. For Li Cunxin, who has suffered from poverty since childhood, living a good life is a natural wish. When he first saw the wealthy life in the West in the United States, the communist education and propaganda he had received over the years inevitably collapsed like a high-rise that had been hit by a missile.
