Dogs are pets? Pigs are food? This book does not teach how to eat pigs to taste better, nor how to raise dogs.

This book tries to explain a problem: the moral relationship between us and animals. Let’s talk about it: under the blessing of morality and emotion, we love animals, keep them by our side, feed them regularly, drink water and see a doctor until they die; they are also small animals, why are some small animals ruthlessly eaten? Lose.

However, from the chapters I read, it seems that the author did not give an affirmative answer, and was more trying to explore the relationship between animals and humans. Only when the relationship is established can there be morality and emotion. There is a summary at the beginning of the book:

When humans think of animals, the only thing that remains constant is the ever-changing values.

Read this book mostly because of the title, but also because of this: I have a cat and a dog at home, and recently added a small tank of goldfish.

Before raising these small animals, in most cases I attributed all animals to animals, and there was no distinction between animals and pets. Gradually upgrade the small animals I raise to pets. What impresses me deeply is taking them to the pet hospital. When I go home on weekdays, when it circles around you and wags its tail, it is more like a part of the family, and whether it is a pet It doesn’t matter.

What impressed me most was that I once came across a stray cat while walking the dog. When I saw it, I tried to smell it with my nose. The little wild cat is naturally good at scratching it with its paws. I thought it was nothing wrong, but returned home at night After getting home, I found a lot of scars from being scratched, accompanied by redness and swelling. I went to the pet hospital decisively. After examination, it was found that it was a fungal infection. The doctor told the kitten that it may have bacteria or fungi on its paws that have been outside for many years. Infection will occur. At this time, the psychology began to change: blame yourself for not being careful enough, and pay attention to the dog’s health at all times. Of course, after spending nearly 1,000 yuan in treatment fees, while lamenting that pets are really expensive to see a doctor, slowly it has an additional identity: a pet.

Sometimes I can’t tell whether it is pampering me, or I am pampering it, or it is more accurate for me and it to pet each other. When I go home, my pet wags its tail and turns in circles, it’s a pet; I feed it dog food, shave it, take a bath, and walk around, and I pet it; when I’m watching TV in the living room, it runs over to rest and sleep near me, this is barely mutual Pet it.

But there is one thing, I am sure: I have never eaten dog meat before, and I will definitely not eat dog meat in the future. Having raised a dog for 9 years, it can be regarded as having a relatively strong affection for this species, which makes me unable to “mouth” both emotionally and morally.

But I have a strange thought in my mind, if I raise a pet pig, will I not even eat pork?
