In order to cope with the severe cold environment of the North and South Poles and meet the driving needs of Chris Ramsey at the same time, the team made minimal modifications to the vehicle. While keeping the battery power system unchanged, the suspension system was re-adjusted and the vehicle was replaced with 39-inch tires. In addition, the vehicle selected this time is also equipped with Nissan’s advanced dual-motor all-wheel control technology – e-4ORCE snow fox electric four-wheel drive system, which will ensure that the polar crossing vehicle can effectively cope with extreme environmental road conditions, and it will also provide a great opportunity for the two explorers. Chris Ramsey and Julie Ramsey provided comfortable and manoeuvrable driving conditions to ensure they reached the Antarctic finish line.

Another innovation this time is that the R&D team equipped the vehicle with a portable renewable energy system that can charge ARIYA in polar environments. Comprising lightweight, collapsible wind turbines and solar panels, the system takes advantage of high winds and long periods of sunshine to charge electric vehicles while Chris and Julie Ramsey park for breaks.
