On April 19, SAIC Motor’s first vehicle rolled off the production line under the pressure test for resumption of work and production at the Lingang Passenger Vehicle Plant. A dynamic plan for resumption of work and production was formulated to lay the foundation.

According to SAIC, the stress test launched yesterday has comprehensively sorted out the difficulties and blocking points of resumption of work, including personnel guarantee, supply chain guarantee, logistics guarantee, closed production management and epidemic prevention measures.

Before the test, SAIC’s Lingang Base formulated and completed a series of plans for epidemic prevention and control, health screening, closed-loop management, preparation support and emergency plans. At present, 8 professional groups including safety, emergency, logistics, and disinfection have been established to fully implement epidemic prevention and control measures. In addition to the basic logistical support, epidemic prevention and disinfection are the top priorities in daily work, not only for the employees themselves, but also for the elimination of dead ends in the production area, material area, and living area, and strict grid management is carried out.

Regarding the next production plan, the relevant person in charge of the Lingang Base of SAIC Group said: “Starting this Tuesday, the factory will plan to adopt a single-shift work system. If the supply chain can remain stable, I hope to gradually climb the slope and return to the epidemic as soon as possible. According to the group’s key production tasks, SAIC Lingang Passenger Vehicle Plant will also coordinate resources to the greatest extent, and strive to not delay the project.”

In terms of supply chain and logistics guarantees, which are very challenging for resumption of work and production, SAIC has now identified nearly 400 suppliers, and conducted a comprehensive survey of suppliers’ production capacity, inventory, raw materials, etc. At the same time, it is also paying close attention to lower levels. The personnel dynamics of suppliers, production situation, etc., help and support lower-level suppliers as much as possible to accelerate the process and resume production. At the same time, SAIC Motor is also connecting with relevant government departments, striving to open up green channels for inter-provincial and city-level traffic as soon as possible.

In the future, the trend of the epidemic, the city government’s prevention and control guidelines, and the results of the stress test will determine how SAIC will formulate a dynamic plan for resumption of work and production.

The relevant person in charge of SAIC Group pointed out: “The resumption of work and production still faces many challenges and uncertainties, such as whether the supply chain is stable, etc., and the production pace will be adjusted strictly according to the government’s epidemic prevention policy.”
