@zizhen sent a passage from Italian designer Massimo Vigneri’s ” Design Guidelines ” (translated by Wang Yun):

Alignment is primarily used for the layout of textbooks, which we don’t like because it’s fundamentally contrived.

@dearmaxi gave the original text (italics from the original):

Justified is used more for text books, but it is not one of our favorites because it is fundamentally contrived.

Eric Liu thinks that the text book here refers to a book based on text rather than pictures. There is a bit of contention on this @usselyse.

Text book is indeed what Eric understands, because the English textbook of textbooks has no spaces. Just from memory, it seems that English textbooks do not often use justification. Textbooks are often divided into columns, and the narrower the column width, the more difficult it is to use justification.
