I chose the video, short video, and music apps that I use more on a daily basis. After registering an account with a new number, I entered the youth mode and handed it over to my rebellious third-grade kid to see how he would use these apps.

The youth mode of “NetEase Cloud Music” did not redesign the interface, and directly disabled podcasts, concerns and Yuncun, and the songs could be listened to, and there seemed to be no advertisements. If you’re like me and just want to listen to music, turning on Teen Mode is a good choice.

Compared with the 40-minute limit of other video apps, Douyin is also more flexible. In addition to providing stricter limits such as 10 and 20 minutes, it also provides children with the option of applying to parents for a longer time.

Through these popular apps, we can summarize the three common problems of the youth model: lack of content, simple functions and perfunctory design .

The first is content. Although there are different ways of dividing the age of teenagers, the “teenage model” is also aimed at all minors.
