Unlock Fukui Prefecture

It’s been a long time since I planned a trip. The trips last year (that I haven’t written a blog record yet) were all done by Doug. I took Po Po to lie down and enjoy the whole process. (,Incompetent bungler) . Anyway, the most important thing to take your baby out to play is to relax, and what to play is not important. Because there was no expectation, instead, many unexpected joys were harvested. In the first half of this year, Po Po was promoted to a new nursery school, so it took a lot of time to get used to it. It was easy to stabilize, and the epidemic came back and forth endlessly. My depression-prone physique started to play havoc again, so I decided to take advantage of a three-day holiday in July to take a long trip to cleanse my tired soul.

Fukui
Nature is the only antidote

Preparation before departure

As the first real trip this year, I am still very interested. Because of the urgency of time, I quickly locked the destination – Fukui, the reason is very simple – I haven’t been there. Remember when I had a map of my travel footprints ? I once wanted to dominate the 47 prefectures in Japan, but I stopped in my footsteps many years ago. Now that the slope is bigger, and the surrounding area is almost the same, it is time to “rush out of Kansai and go to the whole country”. I seriously checked the tourist information of Fukui, and found that small places are good, simple and clear! According to Fukui’s official tourism website , Fukui is mainly divided into the following four areas:

  • あわら・Sakai・Fukui City : City Center, Natural Landscape Spots

  • Eihei-ji Temple and Okuetsu : Temple, Dinosaur Museum

  • Dannam : Mackerel glasses, Echizen crab

  • Wakasaji : Seaside

Because it was midsummer, we didn’t plan to stay outdoors for a long time, so we gave up going to the beach. And because the slope is too small, it is easy to get seasick (we have adjusted it twice), so I can’t participate in the activities of taking a boat tour of the natural landscape. Crabs are only available in winter, and we’re not glasses lovers, so the range was narrowed down again. It seemed that Popo was interested in the Dinosaur Museum, and I just wanted to go to Yongping Temple, so I immediately started searching for hotels after confirming the area. The process is not smooth, because Fukui is not a tourist city, there are not many hotels, and they are basically concentrated in the urban area. And I started looking for it two weeks in advance, and I could hardly find a place to live. I was very depressed and gave up on myself for a while. Brother Dou rushed to comfort me, and even booked me a hotel in Ise Shima as an alternative, and my emotions gradually calmed down.

I changed direction and found that there are buses going to Yonghei Temple and the Dinosaur Museum in the city, so I decided to live in the city of Fukui, and then go out to play at two o’clock and one line. But there is another problem in this. Originally, because Yongping Temple and the Dinosaur Museum are in the same area, I want to live between the two and eat it all. Now I have decided to live in the urban area. It takes more than an hour to go to Yongping Temple and the Dinosaur Museum from the urban area. There are temples everywhere, and it seems that it is not worth an hour’s drive; and the dinosaur museum is well-known in the country, and if our little princess is not interested, then we can’t have fun, so I gave up Yongping Temple and focused on the dinosaur museum! Based on this, I made a plan for the first day of travel. The next day, with half a day left, I was worrying about where to go. I had an idea to look at other bus destinations and found that there was an aquarium in Echizen with a dolphin show. After discussing with Brother Dou and Popo, I wrote down the travel plan after a long time——

Go to the aquarium to see the dolphin show

The travel plan of families with children is so flexible. I was afraid that Popo would be too tired to go to the Dinosaur Museum on the first day, so the itinerary on the second day was very Buddhist. I’m really mature, and I’m not as obsessed with where to eat as I used to be, so I won’t be too sad if I can’t make it. I work really hard not to be sad for myself!

Although booking a hotel still has twists and turns, but fortunately, I finally grabbed a good chain hotel. Of course, the price is also a bit high. A week before the departure, Brother Dou took us to buy tickets again. Finally, everything was ready, but it was still sunny. In July, there is no plum blossom in Japan, and every day is rushing. I’ve experienced how troublesome it is to travel on rainy days. If I add a baby, I’m afraid I can’t achieve my little wish – no stroller! Yes, because Po Po is over three years old, although she is still a squeamish little princess, I also want to use the excitement of traveling to inspire her to walk more, so that our luggage can be reduced a lot. In any case, the weather is not something we can intervene. It just so happened that Popo made a sunny doll in the nursery, so I asked her to make a wish, and she did as she did. She also made wishes intensively every day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I don’t know if it really appeared. During the subsequent journey, it didn’t rain in Kobe or Fukui, and it didn’t get sunburned on cloudy days. I was so happy. Later, I asked Popo to repay the vow, which is lovely.

First day in Fukui
Day 1 Theme of Fukui Trip – Dinosaurs

Brother Dou was afraid that he would not be able to catch the bus to Dinosaur Park, so he bought the Shinkansen that departed earlier, and it turned out that his consideration was correct! So earlier than the scheduled time, we dragged our suitcases and went out. In the past, we always had a backpack per person, and Po Po sat in a stroller. This time Popo carried a small schoolbag full of snacks on his back. We packed valuables in one back and changed clothes in a suitcase. Popo could sit on it when he was tired from walking. I finally enjoyed the convenience of living next to the Shinkansen station. I walked all the way to the station, changing the express train to the slow train. After about two hours of driving, we finally arrived at Fukui~

After leaving a photo of our visit here at Fukui Station, we ate first and then bought the tickets as planned. This lunch may be the best meal I have eaten this year. It is a simple sashimi set, and the side dishes I like very much. The nutrition is balanced and the taste is good. Brother Dou accidentally ordered Fukui’s specialties-pork chop rice and soba noodles in order for Xiaopo to have a bite to eat. I ate a few bites and found that it was a bit powerful. After checking it, I realized that it was a special feature. It was indeed unusual. Popo ate quite a few of my sweet beans, also tried soba noodles and pork chops, but overall very little. We all know why—too many snacks in the car! She’s not hungry anyway, and we’re not forcing it. After drinking and eating, Po Po was obviously tired when it was time to take a nap. So I split up with Brother Dou. I took Popo to rest in the station and strolled around, while Brother Dou shouldered the arduous task of storing luggage and buying tickets. I shamelessly bought myself a cup of coffee, wandering around leisurely, almost missing the car. Brother Dou was dumbfounded by me, but he was able to spare his hands to take pictures of Po Po and me. It was true love without a doubt.

Originally, we planned to take a nap in the car, but Brother Dou and I both slept, and Po Po didn’t sleep, but it was considered a rest. The tram journey is slow and long, but fortunately there is a scenery outside the window to accompany. The slow life in the countryside can really cure anxiety. We play games while watching the scenery. Po Po is very good because he bought her juice. I got off the tram and had to change the bus. Fortunately, I arrived at my destination soon. Xiaopo, who hadn’t been on the bus for a long time, was very excited and sang the children’s song on the theme of the bus all the way, and we dared to agree.

Dinosaur Museum
The whole museum is an egg

Finally arrived at the Dinosaur Museum! There is still something to be known in the country, and we entered the venue smoothly. Although I warmed up with Po Po for a long time in advance, she was not very interested in dinosaurs, but she was only interested in digging dinosaur eggs. I was “beaten” by her, and I sat down and checked it out, only to find that it was too late to go to the wild dinosaur park to dig fossils. I told her the bad news and she was clearly unhappy. Later, I managed to persuade her to visit the complete library on the grounds of the library, but it turned out that the library was not open. So I thought of a good idea – take her to have afternoon tea, and I ended up queuing for two hours. Fortunately, we brought our own snacks, but eating and drinking is not allowed in the restaurant. Po Po was on the verge of collapse at the moment, so we hurriedly took her out of the venue, found a random stone and sat down to eat snacks, and told her that she could dig dinosaur eggs again next time. After eating snacks, she played the super long slide and ate ice cream, and her mood gradually improved. What a pity for the hearts of parents in the world!

The Dinosaur Museum will be closed for renovation at the end of this year, and a new small museum will be opened next to it. It’s good for us to play before the museum closes. Although Popo is afraid of the dinosaurs restored in equal proportions, he has a more intuitive understanding of the dinosaurs that he sees intermittently in picture books and cartoons. good thing. In the evening, we found a local shop for a casual meal, and forgot to take pictures (covering our faces). After dinner, go back to the hotel to take a bath, soak in soup, eat popsicles and sleep in one go. After all, the three of us are tired!

Fukui day two
The theme of the second day of the trip to Fukui – Dolphins

The next day I woke up early, Dou Ge and Popo were still sleeping. I sent a circle of friends to wake them up, otherwise they would not be able to go to the aquarium in time. Last night, we felt that our physical strength was good, and Popo also looked forward to the dolphin performance because he “touched a nose and wanted to regain a city” at the Dinosaur Museum. I was sorely relieved that I checked the dolphin show to the bottom of my head, and Brother Dou also checked the bus schedule in cooperation, and everyone worked hard to be foolproof. We quickly washed, changed clothes, had breakfast, checked out and sent our luggage to catch the bus. When we got there, there was a long queue at the door. I’m strong and calm, and I’m actually determined in my heart. The goal is just a little dolphin show, absolutely no problem. After entering the museum, we went straight to the performance venue without looking sideways. Perhaps because it was close to the meal time, the stands were empty. I inadvertently noticed that there was a platform on the front, and the front panel said “The panel will be removed during the performance and the dolphins will jump on the platform.” So I immediately put Brother Dou and Po Po on the higher part of the grandstand to occupy a seat, and I went to buy some snacks by myself, ready to watch and eat. Five minutes later, my wise decision was proved. Brother Dou sent a message saying that there were suddenly more people, and everyone also took seats before buying food. I bought takoyaki, grilled sausages, grilled potatoes, grilled scallops, etc., with the drinks that Brother Dou bought before, to make up for a lunch. When I went back from shopping, the stands were already crowded, and we were secretly glad. At the beginning of the performance, Popo watched with great enthusiasm, especially when the dolphin jumped on the stage in front of him, Popo exclaimed “so cute”. The family of four sitting behind us didn’t seem to have time to buy lunch. The youngest son was always in a mood, and the mother gradually became angry after a few attempts to appease it. I told Brother Dou that it was fortunate that we came early and had a good division of labor. Not only did we get a good seat, but we also had lunch and saved time.

Echizen Matsushima Aquarium
Before we left, we sat and rested for a while, and Po Po was watching the sunfish by himself (not photographed)

After watching the show and having lunch, we walked around for a while. Although it is called an aquarium, it is more like a zoo. It was really hot in the midsummer of July, we saw one venue go in one, touched octopuses, rays and starfish, and fed the turtles. Po Po still remembers that turtles love to eat pineapples. Seeing that the time is almost up, we are satisfied to return. After picking up our luggage, we got on the train and headed back to Kobe. So far, the two-day and one-night trip to Fukui has come to a successful conclusion. Forgot to mention, Popo bought a pink dolphin doll in the aquarium, which just happened to be a pair with the blue dolphins already at home. The blue dolphin doll was bought by Dou and I when we went to the largest aquarium in Japan in Okinawa. We must take Popo once if we have a chance, but we have to wait for her to grow up. Because this little guy is still scared in such a big dark venue.

In the past, travel was always accompanied by photography, but now I have to take care of Po Po, so I have no hands to take pictures. In fact, this is not bad, no need for P pictures, it can be easier. But I think there will be a day when I will raise my camera again.
