From the beginning of December last year to July this year, a lens designed by me finally ended its research and development stage and began to go into production. This is my first project from start to finish. I think this can be regarded as my first small achievement on this road, and I have accumulated a lot of design experience from it. The details of the lens design should not be disclosed, so I will briefly talk about my feelings.

In design, “rigor” is more important than “talent”. No matter how smart you are and how extreme you have designed a solution, others will only see the various parameter values you output. When you write down these values, you need to be very careful. If you are a little careless and make mistakes, the performance of the final product cannot correspond to the parameters you output, which is basically cold. In the process of design and analysis, I made some small mistakes, but fortunately, I was able to find and correct them in time to avoid subsequent chain reactions.

This is a good opportunity to practice English skills. Many of the customers I have come into contact with are foreign companies, and they speak English when communicating. Every time you have a meeting, your brain has to work at a high load, pay attention to what the other party is saying, and write down the key points. Every time I write a report, I also write a report in English. I want to rant about this. Obviously, it should be the sales staff and the customer. Shouldn’t they be responsible for the translation work? Every time I have to write a Chinese report first, and then translate it into English. Sometimes when I’m lazy, I just let Youdao Dictionary translate it.

Be calm when things go wrong. Sometimes people from other departments, especially the project manager, come to urge you to work, such as asking you to submit the xxx form before x month x day. The so-called reason is that the project schedule is relatively tight. But after all, my work is relatively busy, and it is impossible for me to have time for one thing all day. Therefore, just follow your own schedule to complete what you want to do. Others urge you? Calm down! You urge you, I do mine. Customers are not in a hurry, what are you worried about for the customer?
Seeing that I have written so many analysis reports and the various documents left by perfecting the design time and time again, I feel in a trance that the past six months have not been wasted, and my abilities have been greatly improved.
