On August 12, 2022, CATL officially announced the construction of a battery factory in Debrecen, the eastern city of Hungary, with a planned production capacity of 100GWh and an investment of 7.34 billion euros. The first factory will break ground this year.

It is reported that the project is located in the southern industrial park of Debrecen, covering an area of ​​221 hectares, and will produce battery cells and module products for European car manufacturers.
