The New Zealand government has released its first climate adaptation plan , which includes the possible relocation of some communities to highlands. New Zealand’s climate change minister said about 70,000 coastal homes in New Zealand were at risk from sea level rise, and many more inland were at risk of river flooding. The climate adaptation plan includes the possibility of relocating low-lying homes and assets, but the nearly 200-page six-year plan does not say who will pay for the costs.
