According to the Wall Street Journal, more than 3,000 Amazon employees in New York, California and Washington state have recently been notified that they will lose their jobs .
IT Home understands that this is part of Amazon’s second wave of mass layoffs. The company filed layoff notices in all three states nearly two weeks ago, as required by law.
In Bellevue, Wash., and Seattle, 2,320 Amazon workers were laid off, effective March 19, the documents show. At various locations in four California cities, 504 Amazon employees were laid off, also effective March 19, most of them in the Silicon Valley town of Sunnyvale. Across multiple locations in New York, 299 Amazon workers were laid off, effective April 18 .
Earlier this month, Amazon Chief Executive Andy Jassy said the company would cut 18,000 workers worldwide , adding to the 10,000 layoffs it announced in November.
