BMW Telematics will switch from Linux to Android Automotive

BMW has announced that the telematics system used in some of its future models will switch from Linux to Android Automotive . Android Automotive is also based on the Linux kernel, which has the advantage of integrating Google applications, including the application store, maps and Google Assistant. BMW is expected to customize a skin that makes the Android vehicle system close to its previous-generation Linux system. BMW said it will continue to develop Linux-based in-vehicle systems, which will continue to be used on some models. BMW hasn’t confirmed which models will use Android Automotive.
