About five or six years ago, I participated in a discussion on Huawei’s technology pre-research. They hoped to make some localized technical improvements. The first choice is Bluetooth. Later, the matter did not receive much external support in the evaluation process, and I did not follow up. After the Sino-US trade war, the so-called neck-stuck technical problem is aimed at Huawei. Huawei has already had various plans to cultivate the industrial chain before, but it is still blocked by several major technology alliances. In addition to Bluetooth, it also includes Wi-Fi Fi, that time did get the attention of a series of ministries including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The words “supply chain security”, “software and system localization substitution” began to appear on a large scale. Just whether Wi-Fi can be replaced, several large-scale surveys have been conducted before and after, and relevant leaders have repeatedly demonstrated. The conclusion is that the basic technology must be localized. The vanguard, of course, is Huawei.
In 2019, under the instructions of the then Vice Premier, the construction of 6 international alliances was approved. Today, I’ve seen and participated in at least 3 of them, starting to enter the substantive phase of work, including OLA, Sparklink, and WAA. It is understandable that Huawei has played a key role in it and also played a core role.
We can see that money is very important whether it is a monopoly in business models or rapid development in technological breakthroughs. Some investors will keep digging for “future unicorn” companies. There are about two indicators they pay attention to. One is the level of technological frontier, that is, from 0 to 1, whether there is a future; the other is the product The ability of engineering, that is, from 1 to 100, the ability of engineering mass production. The former decides whether it can be successful, and the latter decides whether it can be successful.
Both of these points happen to Huawei. And the seeds that I started to plant a few years ago, I gradually see clues, it seems that they are about to take root and sprout. I’m not advocating Huawei’s capital and capabilities here. You must know that there are many things that cannot be done with money. Sometimes it is useless to rely on personal efforts. It also depends on the background of the times.
The next 20 years will be the stage of another explosion of technology. From the perspective of the cycle of technological iteration, it will also be the stage with the most opportunities. After that, I am afraid that human beings will inevitably go to nothingness. In the past 20 years, the company that has really changed the world is not necessarily Huawei, but it must be inseparable from Huawei’s technology.
In recent days, I have seen two small news. One is that the high temperature has caused many Google and Amazon’s computer rooms to shut down, affecting related services; the other is that some submarine optical cables have problems, causing problems in some lines in Japan and Hong Kong. .
These things are the cornerstones that actually exist behind the product, but are not known or cared about. These cornerstones are the most solid backing for technological development. When those cornerstones change, the world changes.
