cURL is a widely used Internet infrastructure tool used by almost every networked device and system. The maintenance cost of cURL mainly comes from donations. Author Daniel Stenberg said that the balance of donations raised from Open Collective is more than $130,000 . Previously, the biggest expense of the project was bug bounty, but now this cost will be borne by the Internet Bug Bounty project. He is now considering charging $1,000 a month from the funds raised for server hosting and management. He has spent the past two decades hosting and managing servers with his own money and his own time.
