ESA discusses using SpaceX’s rocket

Reuters reported that the European Space Agency (ESA) held preliminary technical discussions with SpaceX to temporarily use SpaceX’s launch vehicle, the Falcon 9, because the war in Ukraine made it difficult to use Russia’s Soyuz rockets. SpaceX’s rockets could help fill the temporary gap in Europe, but the final decision will depend on when the Ariane 6 rockets will fly for the first time. Europe’s Ariane 5 heavy rockets are used to launch high-weight loads, Russia’s Soyuz rockets are used to launch medium loads, and the new generation of Ariane 6 rockets will be available in two versions, replacing the Ariane 5 and the Soyuz, and its maiden flight date has been Postponed to next year.
