Musk proposes to buy Twitter as originally proposed

Elon Musk has proposed closing the Twitter acquisition on terms he initially agreed to , a sudden retreat that could end his months-long fight to get out of the $44 billion deal. One of Musk’s lawyers communicated the proposal to Twitter’s lawyers on Monday, according to a copy of a two-sentence letterfiled with the SEC on Tuesday afternoon. Twitter confirmed receipt of the letter and said it intends to close the deal at an initial price of $54.20 per share. If both parties agree to the proposal, it could avoid a high-stakes trial that is about to begin and could potentially seal a deal within days. It would be a major win for the social media company. There is no guarantee that the fickle Musk will stick to his proposals and close the deal.
