Sogou Maps will be offline soon

On May 12, Sogou Maps announced on its official website that it will officially go offline at 23:00 on May 15, 2022, and all related services will be closed at that time. Users can download Tencent Maps for better service.

According to the data, Sogou Maps, formerly known as Tuxingtianxia, ​​was established in 1999 and is China’s first Internet map service website. It was acquired by Sohu in 2005 and renamed Sogou Maps.

In September 2021, Tencent announced the acquisition of Sogou, and Sogou completed its privatization and became an indirect wholly-owned company of Tencent. In November 2021, Sogou Maps stated that due to the integration of teams and products, the Sogou Maps app will be temporarily removed from the App Store, and users who have downloaded it will not affect normal use.

In October 2021, Tencent and Sogou will officially hand over. The product and technology departments will be integrated and merged into multiple related business units of Tencent in an orderly manner.
