Summary
01 With policy assistance, the short-term incremental target of renewable energy power generation and the plan for wind power generation as the main incremental power generation have been determined
In June 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration and other nine departments recently jointly issued the “14th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development”, which clearly stated that the development of the upper reaches of the Yellow River and Hexi will be accelerated, focusing on deserts, Gobi, and desert areas. Corridors and other new energy bases on seven continents; focus on the construction of five large offshore wind power base clusters including Shandong Peninsula, Yangtze River Delta, and southern Fujian; focus on deploying nine major actions including urban rooftop photovoltaic actions and “photovoltaic +” comprehensive utilization actions.
02 Wind turbine blades are the most basic and critical components of wind turbines. According to the material, they can be divided into wooden blades, steel beam fiberglass blades, aluminum alloy and other chord-length extruded blades, glass fiber reinforced plastic blades, and carbon fiber composite blades.
At present, FRP blades are the mainstream blades in the market, and carbon fiber composite blades have not yet achieved large-scale application due to their high raw material prices. However, due to their excellent physical properties, they will become one of the development trends of wind power blades.
03 The upstream of the wind power industry chain is raw material suppliers (including glass fiber, carbon fiber, resin matrix and core material suppliers), the midstream is wind power blade manufacturers, and the downstream is wind power machine manufacturers
The cost of wind turbine blades basically depends on the price of upstream raw materials. The cost of raw materials in the blade manufacturing industry accounts for more than 75%, which is a cost-oriented industry. The price of raw materials has a decisive effect on the manufacturing cost and sales price of the blade. In the future, the cost reduction and efficiency increase of wind power blades will also rely on technological innovations in raw materials and blade manufacturing processes.
04 Offshore wind power is one of the development trends of the wind power industry in the future, and will also become one of the major increases in the market demand of the midstream wind power blade industry
Compared with onshore wind power, offshore wind power has the characteristics of high stability, high wind speed and easy consumption. The offshore wind speed is usually 20% higher than that of the coast, and there are few quiet wind periods compared with land, and the power generation time is longer. Therefore, offshore wind power has the prospect of large-scale development in the future, which will promote new demand for wind power blades.
